One of the best ways to develop a deeper understanding of cultures or countries on the other side of the world is to delve into the individual stories of the people living within these communities.

At Rockerbox News, we’re thrilled to introduce the brand new Rockerbox News Interview Series that taps into this, offering a new way to make learning at home fun and inspiring for the entire family.

Introducing: The Rockerbox News Interview Series

Our first interview series is called Unique Jobs, shining a light on the inspiring, unsung work carried out by figures across the globe. From chats with bush pilots in Papua New Guinea to conversations with big cat experts in South Africa, educational interviews will now be available every week on Rockerbox News, focusing on jobs you never knew existed and profiling the people that do them.

Learning at home can be so much more effective and rewarding when the whole family is involved and invested, and the new Rockerbox News Interview Series offers stories, insight, and inspiration for family members of all ages.

Read on to learn more about our interview series, and how you can use it to bring excitement and enthusiasm to home study.

Same Philosophy, Different Format

Our interviews share a lot in common with our other articles. They’re age-appropriate, positive, fun, and curriculum-friendly. However, they also differ in a few ways, creating variety content to challenge, improve, and reward young readers learning at home.

Rockerbox News articles are short, bite-sized nuggets of knowledge. Our interviews are a little longer, however, which allows children to further develop their reading skills, test their recall and comprehension, and get a more extensive portrait of the interviewee. The mix between shorter and longer content lets learners push themselves even further, strengthening their literacy and vocabulary, and boosting curiosity.

Rockerbox News articles explore a diverse range of topics across the globe, from 17th-century blueprints of spaceships to the discovery of a previously unknown giant penguin fossil. Our interview series shifts the focus to individuals, with a real emphasis on human stories, but retains our philosophy of covering unsung stories from around the globe.

While we’ve always drawn attention to figures who we find inspiring, such as the Forest Man of India, our interviews will give our readers an in-depth window into the lives and work of figures from across the globe.

Like all of our content, we want the interview series to be accessible to all so the usual Listen Aloud function allows user to have the interviews read to them too.

Rockerbox News with Your Weekend Breakfast

Rockerbox News interviews will be posted every Saturday morning, making them the perfect read around the weekend breakfast table.

Here is how to see the most impact on learning with Rockerbox News interviews.

BUILD CONFIDENCE WITH ACTIVE SHARING: We’ve scheduled the interview series to empower parents to boost home learning on the weekends in a fun, interactive manner. Why not read the interviews as a family over breakfast on a Saturday morning? Or use the listen aloud function and enjoy discussing the interview together on a weekend drive.

INSPIRE CURIOSITY TO LEARN MORE: We hope our interviewees will inspire you, as a family, to do more research into them, their jobs, and what make them unique. This might be checking out cool videos or learning more about the community they serve.

PLAN YOUR OWN INTERVIEWS: The interview series pairs perfectly with resources in our free family resource portal. After reading the interview, you can check out the interview-related resources to encourage young learners to plan and conduct interviews of their own. This not only allows learners to use the new vocabulary they’ve learned in their writing, but helps them to learn more about media literacy.

CONTRIBUTE TO THE SERIES: Be sure to follow us on Facebook or Instagram and keep an eye out for calls for questions. Or, if you have burning question for one of experts that can’t wait, send it to us through the ‘Message Rockerbox News’ button on your app. This is a great way to get learners excited about forthcoming interviews and feel a sense of ownership over Rockerbox News content.
